Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
